PWNA is proud to announce, after careful collaboration among a group of over 400 members, the new NFPA 96 KEC certification test available to all members and non-members.

PWNA has provided its services as a non-profit organization since 1992, and Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning (KEC) was one of the first certification processes and training opportunities that was ever offered in our 27 years of contribution, and we were the first to deliver such rigorous training in the KEC industry.

PWNA proudly holds a seat on the NFPA 96 committee to help in creating the rules and ensuring necessary safety requirements for KEC and Fire Life Safety. The purpose of the standard is to reduce the potential for fires in cooking operations, no matter the equipment being used or the matter of private or commercial use. The provisions of the standard are what is necessary to provide the required amount of fire hazard protection.

Starting now, the KEC NFPA and ANSI certification exam is widely available to help our PWNA members, non-members, employees to be certified and to ensure all AHJ requirements are met. The necessity of this certification requires an affordable price in order to help KEC comply and compete in the overall industry, and we have upheld that requirement. Company certification costs $249.00 whereas each individual employee costs $59.00 to be considered a certified technician.
